Instruction to Authors - January 2013

 

Asian Journal of Marine Science (AJMS) are aimed to promote scientific communication among animal researchers worldwide. AJMS is an International print and  online  Journal  published in   a frequency of four  issues per year by Sydus Publishing,India. AJMS publishes research papers, review, case reports, commentaries and letter to editors covering all the aspects of issues in all the aspects of marine.

Ethics

Studies reporting the experiments on human subjects and animals, procedures should be followed standard guidelines and authors should indicate whether the procedures followed as the guidelines and ethical standards. The study should be obtained the ethical clearances from the ethical committee. Author should indicate the ethical clearance number or project /proposal approval number in the method section. If needed by the journal editorial board the authors should produce the copy of ethical clearance.

Preparation of Manuscript

Prepare the Manuscript should be typewritten in 12 font size using Times New Roman font, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Pages should be numbered consecutively, starting with the title page and the matter arranged in the following order: Title page, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusions, Acknowledgements, References, Tables and figures along with caption and legends.

Title Page

 Title page contains title of the manuscript in bold face, title case (font size 14), names of the authors in normal face, title case ,followed by the address of authors in normal face, lower case should be typewritten in 12 font size . Names of the authors should appear as initials followed by surnames. Full names may be given in some instances to avoid confusion. The corresponding author  should be directed must be indicated with an asterisk. please mention “*For correspondence” and provide a functional full address ,e-mail address and phone number or mobile  of the corresponding author to whom all correspondence  is to be sent.

Abstract

 An abstract not exceeding 300 words, should be provided typed on a separate sheet. Abstract should include Objective, methods, results and conclusion.

Keywords

Up to 4-6 keywords must be provided related to the work .These keywords should be typed at the end of the abstract.

Introduction

It should be a concise statement of the background to the work presented, including relevant earlier work, suitably referenced. It should be started in new page.

Materials and Methods

It shall be started as a continuation to introduction on the same page. All important materials and equipments, the manufacturer’s name and, if possible, the location should be provided. The main methods used shall be briefly described, citing references. New methods or substantially modified methods may be described in sufficient detail. The statistical method and the level of significance chosen shall be clearly stated.

Results

The important results of the work should be clearly stated and illustrated where necessary by tables and figures. The statistical treatment of data and significance level of the factors should be stated wherever necessary. Data that is not statistically significant need only to be mentioned in the text – no illustration is necessary.

Discussion

This section should deal with the interpretation of results, making the readers to understanding of the problem taken and should be logical. The discussion should state the scope of the results, which need to be further explored. Results and discussion of the work can also be combined under one section, Results and Discussion.

Conclusions

Concisely summarizes the principal conclusions of the work and highlights the wider implications. This section should not merely duplicate the abstract.

Acknowledgements

Acknowledgements as well as information regarding funding sources should be provided.

 Tables

Should each be typed on a separate page, numbered in sequence with the body of the text. Tables should be headed with a short, descriptive caption. They should be formatted with horizontal lines only: vertical ruled lines are not required. Footnotes to tables should be indicated with a), b), c) etc. and typed on the same page as the table.

Figures

Should be on separate pages but not inserted with in the text. All figures must be referred to in the text and numbered with Arabic numerals in the sequence in which they are cited. Each figure must be accompanied by a legend explaining in detail the contents of the figure and are to be typed under the figures. Graphs and bar graphs should preferably be prepared using Microsoft Excel and submitted as Excel graph pasted in Word. Alternatively photographs can be submitted as JPEG images. Keys to symbols, abbreviations, arrows, numbers or letters used in the illustrations should not be written on the illustration itself but should be clearly explained in the legend. Avoid inserting a box with key to symbols, in the figure or below the figure. All Tables and Figures captions and legends should be typed on a separate page.

Article Proofs

Page proofs are sent to the corresponding author through e-mail. They must be carefully checked and returned the revised manuscript within 72 hours .It is the responsibility of the corresponding author to ensure that the galley proof are to be returned without delay with correction if any delay authors are responsible for the contents appeared in their published manuscripts.

Copyright

Authors are asked to sign a warranty and copyright agreement upon acceptance of their manuscript, before the manuscript can be published.

Reviewers suggestion

All the authors are requested to suggest two reviewers ,while submitting manuscript

Peer Review Process

All the manuscript submitted to the journal receives individual identification code and immediately sent to the peer-review to the reviewers. After receiving the reviewer’s report/comments, the report will be communicated to the authors for possible corrections if accepted. Authors will be directed to submit revised manuscript within the time limit.

Article processing charge

Upon acceptance by the journal, fees will be charged for publishing the per article

For Indian authors Rs. 2550; for foreign authors  US$150.

Payment details will be send to authors upon acceptance .
